Kinetotherapy for the knee, hip and ankle, in Cluj

Your knee hurts, but the cause may be somewhere else.

I test how the whole leg works, from the ankle up to the pelvis, then we work with P-DTR and kinetotherapy, in a programme.

What it feels like

The programme is for osteoarthritis, meaning cartilage wear, for tendinitis, repeated sprains, meniscus or ligament tears. And for recovery after surgery, including after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery.

Why the knee hurts

“The meniscus is like the knee's gasket.”

It absorbs shocks, helps spread the weight and protects the joint. Meaning it doesn't let one bone rub against the other.

“The problem appears when the meniscus tears, exactly like a gasket.”

Okay, but why does it tear?

The gasket holds as long as the load comes evenly. When some of the muscles around the knee no longer contract on time, the load shifts. The same area takes more than it can handle, step after step.

And why don't they contract on time anymore?

The central nervous system uses muscles like tools. It decides which ones work and which ones rest. And what makes it decide is trauma. An old sprain, a fall, a knock, an operation.

The body doesn't forget. It remembers the place that got hurt and wants to protect it, even after many years.

A client with calf pain wrote this:

“We managed to trace all my problems back to two key moments in childhood: when I hit my head badly at around age 6, and later, when I jumped down 5 steps at school and sprained my ankle.”

That's why I test the whole leg, not just the knee.

If you run

I work with runners, with people who do Spartan Race and with marathon runners.

Running is a reactive effect: “absorb, act, absorb, act”. Meaning the foot catches the ground and passes the force on, into the next step.

With runners I also test how the foot lands, with the test I call one single leg hops: hops on one leg.

What the recovery programme looks like

1

Biomechanical assessment

About an hour. You tell me what hurts, when it hurts, since when. And what other pain you've had over the years. That's where the gold is.

2

I test

The big muscles that link the lower body to the upper body. Which ones are weak, which ones are normal, which ones are tense.

I test. I do NOT guess.

3

P-DTR

I treat the places your body is still protecting, even if you forgot about them long ago. Then I retest on the spot, so you see what changed.

4

Kinetotherapy

In the kinetotherapy sessions I watch you move. I find out where it hurts, when it hurts, which movement doesn't work. At the next P-DTR session I treat exactly what I found there.

Therapy without kinetotherapy is therapy by guesswork.

How long it takes

A programme lasts about a month and a half to two months. Nothing is rushed.

At around two months we retest. So you see the progress and I know what to change.

I can't tell you in advance whether a programme will solve the situation fully or only partly. That's why we test and retest.

What people say (reviews translated from Romanian)

“Every time, Radu gets me back on my feet in a few days and I can keep enjoying my sport. Warmly recommended for any kind of pain and especially for “fixing” sprains.”

Andrei, runner

“I came in with tendinitis […] which hadn't let go of me for about 3 months. […] After the first therapy session with Radu Conea, the next day I even went running, with no pain during the run or the day after.”

Dan

“After just 2 P-DTR sessions, my back and knee pain disappeared.”

Andra

I don't promise anyone the same result. It depends on the situation. That's why we test.

What it costs

  • The first step: the biomechanical assessment 200 RON

About an hour. This is where we find out where your pain starts. The assessment is paid separately from the programme.

  • Essential Programme 3.000 RON

    4 P-DTR sessions and 6 kinetotherapy sessions.

  • Extended Programme 4.500 RON

6 P-DTR sessions, 10 kinetotherapy sessions and weekly check-ins. It can be paid in two instalments of 2.250 RON.

  • Intensive Recovery 8.100 RON

10 P-DTR sessions, 20 kinetotherapy sessions, a 3-month nutrition plan and monitoring. 2.700 RON per month, for 3 months.

We choose the programme together, after the assessment. I guide you and suggest options, and you choose.

We don't work with the Romanian public health insurance (CNAS), so referral notes can't be used here.

Contraindications

We don't start the programme if you have:

Questions about the knee, hip and ankle

My knee hurts. Why do you also look at my ankle and pelvis?

Because the knee sits between the ankle and the hip. When one of them isn't working the way it should, the knee takes over part of the load. If you only treat the knee, the wrong loading stays.

I have osteoarthritis. Is there any point in coming?

It depends on the grade and on what shows up in testing. At grade 4, the final stage, the programme isn't for you.

I had cruciate ligament surgery. Can you help me?

Yes, recovery after ACL surgery is one of the situations I work with. What gets worked on and how much, we find out at the assessment.

What happens to the leg after surgery, in the article “Leg atrophy after an ACL tear” →

Can I try just one session?

You can, there's a single P-DTR session too, at 600 RON. But one session on its own can't know everything that needs treating. That's why I work in programmes.

I live in another city. Is it worth the trip?

People have come from Reghin, Târgu Mureș, Sibiu and Oradea. The harder something is to get, the more you want it.

Every body has a story. Let's see what yours has to tell us.
